Photographs
Various photographs of Chessington Zoo & Circus, throughout the years...
Rosie & Rajah
Rajah the pony and Rosie the elephant at Chessington Zoo on March 29th, 1935. The caption reads: Good morning, Mrs. Elephant. Rajah, the poney, likes to accompany the assistants at feeding time at the Chessington, Surrey, Zoo. Here they are calling on "Rosie" the elephant, who seems to be giving them a good welcome.
The Three Light “Garden-Seat” Horse-Bus
The Three Light “Garden-Seat” Horse-Bus was used for a number of years by Chessington Zoo, who purchased it from Mills Circus. The bus was operated on a service between Chessington South Station and the zoo, until it's retirement in 1949; when it failed to pass an inspection. The horse bus still survives today and after a complete overhaul and repaint to it's original livery the bus is now part of the display at London Bus Museum in Cobham, Surrey.
